Swamp Music Players release A Growing Concern EP worldwide

Canadian based music collective, Swamp Music Players, have released their new EP entitled, A Growing Concern on October 16, 2026.

It’s A Growing Concern is our eclectic mix of retro American music genres as we weave a story from the optimistic escape of ‘Run With Us’ , the madness of the track ‘A Growing Concern’ , the anti-war tracks “Wave Of Peace” and “A Gross Canard”. The steamy depths of foreboding in the Florida Keys to the clarity to GTFO of Hollywood ! The Slender man is the least of your worries if it all ends with the Nuclear Bogeyman.

Reimagining a Canadian Synth-Pop Classic: Swamp Music Players Cover “Run With Us” at Battle Chamber Studio

When it comes to Canadian pop-culture nostalgia, few songs hold as iconic a place in the hearts of 1980s kids as “Run With Us.” Originally written by Kevin Gillis, Jon Stroll, and Steve Lunt as the closing theme for the legendary animated series The Raccoons, the track gained true iconic status when singer Lisa Lougheed lent her powerhouse synth-pop vocals to the version featured from season two onward (and on her classic 1987 debut album Evergreen Nights). For an entire generation growing up in Canada in the late ’80s and early ’90s, the song was more than just end-credits music—it was a high-energy synth anthem of freedom, camaraderie, and pure 80s television magic.

So, when the retro-futuristic collective Swamp Music Players set out to pay tribute to this staple of Canadian music history, they knew they needed an approach that respected the original’s roots while giving it a darker, cinematic, and modern edge.

From 8-Track Tape to Detroit Production

The path to building this reimagined version of “Run With Us” was an unconventional, cross-border endeavor.

It all started with lead vocalist Hilary Beckett, who tracked her rich, expressive vocal performance on a vintage 8-track tape machine inside a heritage home, capturing an organic, analog warmness right from the source.

Once those tape-tracked vocals were laid down, the band handed over the keys to Steve Greene at Battle Chamber Studio in Detroit.

Taking the raw vocal stems and the core concept, Steve built the entire arrangement and track structure from scratch right here at Battle Chamber. Designing custom analog-style synthesizer textures, driving basslines, and full rhythmic arrangement from the ground up, Steve sculpted a brooding yet anthemic atmosphere that bridges authentic ’80s synth-pop nostalgia with modern weight.

To top off the arrangement, session musician The Swamp Wizard came into Battle Chamber Studio to lay down an expressive, rip-roaring 80s-style guitar solo, giving the track the exact soaring rock edge it needed to push the climax over the top.
