Steve Greene plays keys on Temple of Void track, A Dead Issue

Steve Greene contributes keyboards to new Temple of Void track, A Dead Issue. Friday, March 6 2026 marks the release of the new Temple of Void album, The Crawl, via Relapse Records. The album was produced and mixed by Kurt Ballou.

Steve Greene contributed synths to the track, A Dead Issue.

Some mentions about, A Dead Issue:

• “Things also heat up on “A Dead Issue,” as discordant leads and eerie keyboards conspire to create an ominous, unsettling soundscape. The dreamy, ethereal guitars that weave in and out add another layer and make for a dynamic listen.” – Angry Metal Guy

•  “A Dead Issue” whirs with synth sheen, driving as the keys glow and organs rise, giving a vintage psyche finish to their thorns. Icy future emerges as the riffs soar, the growls snarl with the temperature decrease, then the guitars get catchier before everything boils away. My notes say, “More of this, please.” – meatmeadmetal.com

• TEMPLE OF VOID have constructed their own musical world, and they are hell-bent on luring us all in. From the epic clatter of “A Dead Issue”, to the expansive, slithering doom monolith of “The Twin Stranger” – Blabbermouth

• “A Dead Issue” brings in synths and this big bruiser of a dummy riff that if you stripped out the vocals, I’d believe you if you told me Zakk Wylde wrote it 20 years ago for Ozzy on Black Rain. Not content to make it that easy, however, Temple Of Void spends the second half of the song flying into space and letting the guitar simply meander, clamber and explore as if the band had recently binged Colors. – yourlastrites.com

• My personal highlight, “A Dead Issue,” leans further into groove. A bending guitar phrase appears sparingly throughout the song, but each occurrence lands perfectly. There’s an unexpectedly catchy quality embedded in the weight, making it one of the most memorable cuts on the record. – themetalpit.org

• Tracks like “A Dead Issue” draw more on synth, whereas the guitars meander into mystical style, the guitar sound crunchier, with synth and ethereal melodic death metal emerging into the ether. The synth adds a mystic flavor to the shimmering melodies that fade in and out of the background. – grimmgent.com

From Relapse Records

The caveman brawn of previous albums, namely Summoning the Slayer (2022), remains, but there’s a wider dynamic on the group’s fifth full-length album at play. Now a quartet—featuring guitarist Alex Awn, drummer Jason Pearce, vocalist/guitarist Mike Erdody, and bassist Justin Malek—the Michiganders aren’t shying away from their non-metal influences, seeking greater integration of grunge and post-punk with their brutish signature. Singles “The Crawl” and “Soulburn” demonstrate the proficiency of TEMPLE OF VOID‘s death-cloaked, spearheaded attack.  From the high intensity of opener “Poison Icon” to the granite wall of “The Twin Stranger,” The Crawl isn’t just TEMPLE OF VOID evolved, it’s a harbinger of death metal to come.
